Looped by Hand (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs loopedbyhand.com, a free library of crochet patterns. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep things simple: we collect as little as possible and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Newsletter sign-up: your email address and the date you subscribed, only if you choose to join the newsletter.
• Contact form: your name, email address and the message you write, only if you send us a message.

Information collected automatically

• Hosting data: the site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical data (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse and attacks.
• Fonts: our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address when the page loads.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics, and we don’t build profiles about visitors. If we ever add analytics or advertising, we’ll update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

How we use your information

• To send you the newsletter you signed up for, with news about new patterns.
• To read and reply to messages you send us.
• To keep the site secure, working properly and free of spam.

Our legal basis is your consent (newsletter and contact form) and our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website (hosting and security data).

Sharing your information

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with the service providers that help us run the site. Cloudflare hosts the site and stores our database, and Google Fonts delivers our typefaces. We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

• Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
• Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you, and are then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• withdraw your consent and unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time;
• object to or restrict how we use your information;
• complain to your local data-protection authority.

To use any of these rights, just send us a message. We’ll reply within 30 days.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and our database can only be reached by the site itself. No method of storing data online is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Looped by Hand is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us their details, please contact us and we’ll delete them.

Links to other sites

Patterns may link to yarn shops or other websites. We’re not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies too.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be announced on the site or in the newsletter.
